Mapusa: Rebel former BJP MLA Kiran Kandolkar, who has been vocal against the party, has decided to quit the party and is all set to join the Goa Forward Party (GFP) along with his supporters.
Recently, Kandolkar was summoned by the crime branch in connection with a recent gambling raid in Mapusa following which a crucial meeting was held at his residence at Revora which was attended by his key supporters where it was suggested that Kandolkar should join the Goa Forward Party. Following the demand from his supporters, Kandolkar has agreed to join the GFP after Dussehra.
Kandolkar said, “Many of my supporters including the sarpanch and panch members came to my house and demanded that I should join the GFP along with my supporters. I have taken their views positively and decided to join the GFP however the date is yet to be finalised.”
He further added that in the next two or three days he will be tendering his resignation from the BJP.
Meanwhile, GFP chief Vijai Sardesai appreciated the views of Kandolkar and tweeted “Appreciated Kiran Kandolkar’s views of the Goa Forward Party, we are a party of fighters proud to defend Goem, Goemkar and Goemkarponn. Kiran had the courage and self-respect to take on the totalitarian BJP govt, we will fight together to save Goa,” Sardesai said in his tweet.
