BHUBANESWAR: The admission in Plus II courses was completed on Saturday. The spot admission was conducted on Friday after the first and second selection rounds were over.
Around 3.84 lakh students had applied for admission in 4,53,643 seats across 2,028 higher secondary schools in the state. “We will update the data of the students who took admission through spot selection online soon,” Brundaban Behera, director of higher secondary education, said.
Behera added that the date for starting physical classes in schools was yet to be announced. “The admission is over. The school and mass education department will take a decision regarding the commencement of classes on campuses,” he added.
The directorate of higher secondary education under the state’s school and mass education department had invited online applications from students starting from August 21. The first merit list was published on September 18, while the second merit list was announced on October 5. The spot selection merit list was published on October 15.
Sources said as the admission process for Plus II first year has been completed, the government was planning to start online classes for the new entrants by November. The chances of students attending physical classrooms on the campuses are low, sources added.
The school and mass education department has already started online classes for plus II second year students via online apps. Notes are being shared with students via WhatsApp and emails.
It has started airing video lectures on Doordarshan for science students and those of other streams. It will also start online classes for plus II first year students soon.
