nCoV: Jharkhand reports 542 new cases, tally reaches 95,967

Ranchi, Oct 17 (UNI) The Coronavirus patients tally in the state reached to 95,967 as a total of 542 fresh cases of Covid-19 were detected across 22 districts of Jharkhand on Saturday.

During the day 8 deaths were reported including 4 from East Singhbhum and 1 each from Bokaro, Dhanbad, Giridih and Godda districts after which the overall death count has increased to 832 in the state. The mortality rate among the patients currently stands at 0.86 percent.

As per the information provided by the health department the number of active cases in the state was 6,576 while number of cured and discharged cases stood at 88,559. The total number of death caused by Coronavirus in the state stood at 832.

On Saturday a maximum number of 242 cases were found in Ranchi followed by 66 from East Singhbhum, 44 from Bokaro, 26 from Dhanbad and 25 from Ramgarh (top five districts). However no cases were detected in Giridih and Sahebganj districts during the day.

A total of number of 501 people were also cured and discharged from various dedicated Covid-19 facilities during the day including 181 from Ranchi, 55 from East Singhbhum, 33 from Bokaro, 29 from West Singhbhum and 26 from Hazaribagh.

Despite the rampant rise in Coronavirus cases across the state the recovery rate of Covid-19 patients has improved significantly and has once gone above 92 percent mark to currently stand at 92.28 percent in Jharkhand.

So far in the state 28,42,835 samples have been collected out of which 28,27,248 have been tested and 27,31,281 have turned out to be negative.
