Adilabad: Two persons of an inter-state gang allegedly involved in autorickshaw lifting were arrested on Saturday. Seven autorickshaws and a motorbike were recovered from their possession. Three more lifters were absconding.
Producing them before the media, Superintendent of Police Vishnu S Warrier said that the accused persons were Zubair Khan, a cleaner and Shaik Nadeem, a ginning factory worker, both from Kinwat of Maharashtra. The other accused who are still at large include Shaik Mosin, Shaik Saleem and Shaik Aman.
During the interrogations, Zubair Khan and Nadeem confessed to committing the offence to lead a lavish lifestyle by forming a gang for quite a long time. They admitted to stealing seven autorickshaws in Mavala, Adilabad Rural, Talamadugu, Gudihatnoor mandals. They said they were lifting the three wheelers parked in front of houses in the night.
The IPS officer commended Adilabad DSP NVS Venkateshwar Rao, Adilabad Rural Inspector K Purushottam Chary, Task Force Inspector E Chandramouli and their team members for cracking the case. He requested the public to come forward to install CCTV cameras to prevent various crimes. He added that efforts were on to nab the remaining lifters.
Trainee IPS Officer Akanksh Yadav, Adilabad DSP Venkateshwar Rao and other police officials were present.
