nCoV: 2,610 fresh cases in UP

Lucknow, Oct 16 (UNI) Covid-19 cases in Uttar Pradesh has reached 4,49,935 of which 4,08,083 have recovered and 35,263 were admitted to the hospitals or were in home isolation getting treatment.



Altogether 2,610 fresh cases of Covid-19 were reported on Friday in the state while 3,239 people have recovered.

The recovery percentage in the state has also increased to 90.69 per cent.

A total of 6,589 people lost their lives to the lethal virus with 46 fresh fatalities in the last 24 hours.

State Additional Chief Secretary, Health, Amit Mohan Prasad said, on Friday that the number of active patients were decreasing day by day and today there are 35,263 active patients, similar number of patients were same on July 31 last.

He said in the first fortnight of October, the positivity rate of Covid in the state has dropped to 2.2 per cent.

He said that age wise the positivity rate was 13.76 per cent in the age group of 0 to 20 years, 47.61 per cent between 21 to 40 yrs, 29.06 per cent between 41 to 60 years and 9.57 per cent in the age group of above 60 years.

However, in the deaths, above 60 years contributed 45 per cent and in the age group of 41 to 60 years it was around 40 per cent.

On Thursday, a total of 1,70,270 samples were tested and the total Covid tests in the state has gone up to a record 1,26,89,476.

Mr Prasad said there are 16,369 positive asymptomatic patients in home isolation while 2994 patients were admitted to private hospitals. Rest patients are recovering in the government run Covid hospitals.

Over 4.21 lakh surveillance teams have visited 1,41,278 areas of the state and visited 2.71 crore houses to check the health of over 13.40 crore people.
