Minor gangraped and murdered in Dumka; CM directs DGP to nab culprits

Dumka, Oct 16 (UNI) A 12-year old girl was gangraped and murdered under Ramgarh Police Station area of this district on Friday.

Police said that the victim, a student of Standard five, was a resident of Thadi village. The tribal girl left her home this morning on a cycle for tuition classes but when she failed to return they went looking for her.

The father of the girl saw her cycle outside the village and soon her body was also recovered from the bushes after which police was alerted.

Dumka SP Ambar Lakra said that prima facie it appears that the girl has been gangraped and later murdered. He said that the body has been sent for post-mortem. Further probe was on.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren also took cognisance of the crime and instructed the DGP to take immediate action and initiate proceedings under the fast track courts.
