
NTA NEET 2020 result Live Updates: The National Testing Agency (NTA) will declare the much-awaited result for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2020 today. The result will include both September 13 and October 14 attempts. Those who have secured 50 percentile or above are considered successful, however, seats in medical and dental colleges are offered based on merit-based counselling. The counselling will be held by the National Medical Commission (NMC) which has replaced the Medical Council of India (MCI).
This year, over 14.37 lakh candidates appeared for the medical entrance exam on September 13 despite the pandemic. While the rest of the students were given a chance to appear for it in the special exam. Candidates can check their results at nta.ac.in or ntaneet.nic.in. Students will have to enter their roll number mentioned on the admit card to check the result.

While the national rank list will be released, state-based colleges will also release their own cut-off. Since last year, top medical colleges AIIMS and JIPMER are also accepting students based on the NEET score. Earlier, they used to have their own entrance test. Every medical college has 15 per cent seats reserved under the All India quota (AIQ) which are filled centrally while the rest are filled by the respective state.

The result of NEET exam will be released today, and candidates can expect a higher cut-offs this year as the paper was relatively easy compared to last years. Geeta Jain, Founder of Mediconation said, 'The paper was easy and the physics section was easier as compared to last year so it’s likely to be higher this year. Also, NTA has kept the relaxation for the students this year due to the pandemic. The general category students need to score 50 percentile and the SC, ST and OBC categories require 40 percentile to qualify for the NEET exam.'
The cut-off is the minimum qualifying percentile which candidates need to score in the NEET. Only those who obtain the minimum qualifying cut-off stand a chance to be included in NEET merit list. Candidates will be allotted ranks in the merit list on the basis of the scores that they obtain. Candidates can refer to the table below for the previous year’s cut-off percentile and scores for the reference.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has yet not released the OMR sheet, answer key for the re-exam held on October 14. Candidates are now demanding the exam conducting agency to release the answer key, and to provide options to challenge it.
Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal has extended best wishes to students appeared for the NEET exams. "NT is announcing the results of NEET UG today I wish all the best to the candidates," Nishank said.

The final answer key is only considered for declaration of the NEET result and is released just few hours before the declaration of the result displaying all the correct answers. The result is highly expected to be announced anytime soon.
The Supreme Court held that NRI quota in PG Medical and Dental courses is not “sacrosanct” in any given academic year and private medical colleges are not obligated to earmark such seats for admissions. The top court said that if a medical college or institution or the state regulating authority decides to do away with such quota, then a reasonable notice of such a decision be issued to enable those aspiring for such seats to choose elsewhere.
Spouses and children of terror attack victims will now get reservation in MBBS and BDS admissions. The move will be applicable for the 2020-21 academic year. The reserved seats will be from the central pool of seats for medical admissions. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has reportedly written a letter to chief secretaries of all states and UTs along with the guidelines in this regard.

NEET cut-off is the minimum marks that candidates need to secure in the entrance exam to become eligible to apply for admission into MBBS/BDS courses. The cut-off changes every year depending on factors such as the difficulty level of the NEET exam, number of aspirants appearing for the exam, availability of seats, etc. and it also vary category wise.
The candidates need to secure a minimum 50th percentile in NEET to qualify for MBBS/BSD courses. For those from the reserved categories including SC and ST category, the minimum marks are 40th percentile and for PwD candidates it is 45th percentile.
The NEET re-exam held on October 14 following the Supreme Court’s order. In the exams held, the physics section was termed difficult. In comparison to phase-I, both chemistry and biology were easier this time.
