Two men, a bus driver and a school pupil have been taken to hospital after a bus and a car were involved in a crash at Downpatrick Road in Clough, County Down, on Friday morning.
Twelve schoolchildren were on the bus, two of whom were treated by paramedics at the scene after the collision at about 08:40 BST.
Police believe the pupils' injuries are not life-threatening.
They said the road will remain closed "for some time".
Officers said the driver and passenger in the car were taken to hospital.
They have advised that drivers avoid the area and use an alternative route.
'Shocked'
Sinn Féin MP Chris Hazzard also urged people to "please avoid the area if possible".
UUP councillor for the area, Alan Lewis, said he was "shocked" to hear about the incident and thanked emergency services for quickly responding to the scene.
He said: "My thoughts are with all those injured in this morning's incident, I hope and pray they make a full recovery.
"The entire community send their best wishes to all involved."
