Willem Alberts withdrawn from Lions team after close contact with Covid-19 case

Springbok Willem Alberts has been withdrawn from the Lions team to tackle the Stormers in Cape Town after close contact with a person who tested positive for Covid-19.

The Lions said via a press statement that Alberts was tested and cleared on Monday but the latest development will see him go into quarantine.

His position as starting lock will be taken by Ruben Schoeman.

Saturday's clash at Newlands kicks off at 19:00
