Telangana records 1,554 new Corona positive cases, seven COVID-19 deaths till Thursday night

Hyderabad, Oct 16 (UNI) Telangana's single day tally of COVID-19 positive cases rose to 1,554 till 2000 hours on Thursday taking the cumulative number of Coronavirus cases in the state to 2,19,224 so far.

The overall COVID-19 deaths in the state mounted to 1,256 till date as seven more patients had succumbed to the contagious coronavirus in the past 24 hours translating into case fatality rate of 0.57 per cent as against the countrywide mortality rate of 1.5 per cent, a state health department bulletin said on Friday.

As many as 1,435 patients had recovered from coronavirus between Wednesday and Thursday taking the total number of recoveries now in the state to 1,94,653 constituting a recovery of 88.79 per cent while the National recovery rate was 87.5 per cent.

During the last 24 hours,43,916 swab samples were tested to detect the deadly virus and out of which the reports of 831 swab samples of people were awaited, the bulletin said.

There were 23,203 active cases of the virus in the state now.

Till date, 37,46,963 COVID-19 tests had been carried out in the state since the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation limits, as usual, contributed a maximum 249 positive cases followed by its neighbouring districts Ranga reddy (128) and Medchal Malkajigiri (118).

The other districts contributed the remaining positive cases, the bulletin added.
