Chamba Bar Association demands public apology from Himachal Pradesh deputy speaker

CHAMBA: The District Bar Association of Chamba, Himachal Pradesh (HP) has sought a public apology from deputy speaker HP Hans Raj for allegedly using objectionable language against the advocates failing which the Bar has threatened to move the court.
The allegations have however been vehemently denied by Hans Raj.
In a release issued on Friday, president of Bar, Dharam Malhotra alleged that Hans Raj, in a public meeting held on October 10 at Kuaruin tehsil, Churaha assembly constituency which was also being live streamed on Facebook, had made defamatory statements against the two advocates.
"I never uttered a single word against Chamba Bar which is an honourable and creditable body, whatever I spoke about the two advocates I still standby with my statement", said Hans Raj adding that Bar had some misunderstanding. He also alleged that the two advocates about whom he spoke during his rally had their vested interests.
Malhotra informed that Bar members held a demonstration and Bar’s executive body also held an emergency online meeting to discuss the issue on Friday.
He said "Deputy speaker should publicly apologize for the wrong statement against the advocates of the district bar association, Chamba, immediately failing which the Association will take appropriate steps under the law as well as it will launch agitation against him till he does not apologize publicly".
