Chirag Paswan talks to India TV
LJP leader Chirag Paswan on Friday spoke exclusively to India TV, ahead of the upcoming elections in Bihar. This was the first time Chirag Paswan spoke to India TV after the demise of his father and LJP founder Ram Vilas Paswan. In his conversation, Chirag Paswan told India TV about his plans for Bihar elections and his vision for the polls would be 'Bihari first'.
In conversation with India TV's Ajay Kumar, Chirag Paswan today said he wants to fulfill the dream of his father. "I want to fulfill the dream of my father and this is what my father had wanted me to do," Paswan said.
Speaking further, Chirag Paswan expressed disappointment with what Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Modi had said over giving votes to Lok Janshakti Party (LJP).
"Each and every leader has made it clear that LJP is not a part of NDA in Bihar. In each and every public meeting, I am telling the people, don't waste your votes by voting for the LJP candidates. They are vote-cutters. This is a design by some strategist, by some brain," Sushil Modi had said.
Expressing disappointment, Chirag Paswan said it is disheartening to hear Sushil Modi ji saying such things as he has been a good friend to my father Ram Vilas Paswan.
"I am upset and I'm sure my father too would be upset if he would hear what Sushil Modi ji has said," Chirag Paswan said.
"My father had formed the base of this party 20 years back and through his hard work, the party has been successful," Paswan said, adding, "Even Sushil Modi ji has been a good friend of my father."
Talking of Bihar elections, Chirag Paswan said he would step in between people with the agenda of 'Bihar First, Bihari First'. He also said he has always stood by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and especially Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
"With the mission 'Bihari First', I aim to step in between people and win their confidence," Chirag Paswan told India TV.
Upon being asked about the present condition of Bihar, Chirag Paswan said, "the leader of any state is responsible for what is happening in his state."
"Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is leading the state and he is answerable for the present condition of the state," Chirag Paswan said, adding, "those working under Nitish Kumar are not even aware of the decisions he makes."
"People of Bihar are unhappy with the chief minister," he told India TV.
On his plans for the upcoming elections in Bihar, Chirag Paswan said, " I would have easily ruled Bihar had I wanted to, but I want to serve the people of my state."
"I had worked on 'Bihari First' agenda with my father and will move ahead on the same," Chirag Paswan told India TV.
On being asked about his plans post elections, Chirag Paswan said his support to the BJP will continue.
"We will continue to support the Bharatiya Janata Party even after the elections in Bihar and I am confident that the state will welcome BJP-LJP will form government in Bihar on November 10 (the vote counting day)," Chirag Paswan told India TV.
