K'taka BJP leader meets AP Congress leader

Bengaluru, Oct 16 (UNI) Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka and senior BJP leader Ashwathnarayana sprang a surprise on Friday, when he reached out to meet senior Congress leader and former Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president Raghuveer Reddy and held talks with him.
According to party sources, the BJP leader met Mr Reddy in Karnataka and sought his support for the BJP candidate, fighting the by-elections to the Assembly seat.
The leaders, during their luncheon meeting, also discussed about the political developments, both in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, sources said here.
The visit of BJP leader to the residence of the Congress leader in Andhra Pradesh, had raised eyebrows in the political circle in the state, when by-elections are being held for two Assembly seats, including Sira Assembly seat, bordering Andhra Pradesh.
It was said that the Congress leader, belonging to Yadava community, wields a good amount of influence among his community people in the neighboring Sira Assembly constituency, and the BJP leader wanted to encash it in favour of the Saffron Party.
The sources, however, said that the Congress leader, while extending a warm reception to the Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister, did not made any commitment to support the BJP candidate.
