Bhubaneswar, Oct 16 (UNI) Covid death toll in Odisha today crossed 1100 mark with the death of 15 people in the past 24 hours while the Covid tally surged to 2,64,149.

Health and family Welfare department sources said the Covid toll went up to 1104 with the fresh death of 15 people while under treatment.

During the past 24 hours 2,138 people were infected with the Covid virus taking the tally to 2,64,149 of which already 2,38,535 people have been cured and discharged from the hospital

Out of the 2,138 new cases reported in the state ,1,251 were detected from the quarantine centres while 887 are local contact cases.

For the first time the local contact cases dropped below 1000 mark in the state.

Khordha continues to report the highest number of 45,002 covid cases including 368 registered during the past 24 hours followed by Cuttack(23957),Ganjam ( 20779),Puri ( 11,664) and Mayurbhanj( 10,022).

On the other hand Ganjam district has the highest covid fatalities with 225 deaths followed by Khordha(186), Cuttack (96),Puri (73),Balasore ( 61) and Sundargarh ( 54 ).
