IPL 2020: MI restrict KKR at 148/5

Abu Dhabi, Oct 16 (UNI) Pat Cummins half century (not out) 53 off 36 and skipper Eoin Morgan (not out) 39 off 29 helped KKR post a fighting 148/5 in 20 overs against MI in the 32nd Match of the IPL Sheikh Zayed Stadium here on Friday.

But it was 6th wicket partnership between Morgan and Cummins which took KKR score to 148.

Morgan 39 off 29 (2 fours, 2 sixes) and Cummins 53 off 36 (5 fours, 2 sixes) remained unbeaten as in last over duo scored 21 runs with 6,6 and four and in last ball Morgan smashing Coulter-Nile for a six.

But it was MI bowlers disciplined bowling with likes of Chahar, Krunal Pandya and Bumrah which restricted KKR at 148.

Earlier, KKR won the toss and elected to bat first against MI.

KKR openers Rahul Tripathi and Shubman Gill after putting 18 runs for first wicket didn't last long as Tripathi was the first to go in 3rd over Trent Boult removing him at 7 off 9 balls (1 four). KKRs first wicket fell at 18 runs.

After Tripathi's departure KKR wickets kept falling at regular intervals though there was 15 runs stand between Rana and Gill for second wicket and another 19 runs stand between skipper Morgan and Russell for fifth wicket.

The fall of wickets were Nitish Rana for 5 in 6th over, Gill 21 off 23 in 8th over, Dinesh karthik for 4 in 8th over, 5th wicket of Andre Russell 12 off 9 (1 four, 1 six) in 11th over. KKRs five wickets fell inside 61 runs.

For MI wicket-takers were Rahul Chahar 2/18, Boult 1/32, Coulter-Nile 1/51 and Bumrah 1/22.
