CONFIRMED | Chiefs v Sundowns to kick off 2020/21 season as PSL announces fixture list

  • The PSL has released the fixture list for the upcoming 2020/2021 soccer season.
  • Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns will renew their rivalry when they face off on the opening day at FNB Stadium.
  • Tshakhuma FC and TS Galaxy will make history when they play their first-ever match in the Premiership.

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) on Friday released the 2020/2021 Premiership fixtures that will see Kaizer Chiefs renew their rivalry with defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns on the opening weekend.

Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns, the two clubs that fought for the championship until the last minute of the previous season, will feature in the opening act of the Premiership at FNB Stadium on Saturday, 24 September.

At the same time, Baroka FC will be at home against Maritzburg United at Peter Mokaba Stadium, while Lamontville Golden Arrows will travel to the Free State to play Bloemfontein Celtic at the Dr Molemela Stadium.

Cape Town City host Chippa United at Cape Town Stadium in the later kick-off at 18:00.

Two matches take place in the last time-slot of 20:15.

AmaZulu are at home to Orlando Pirates at Kings Park, while SuperSport United face Black Leopards at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.

To conclude the opening weekend fixtures, (Sunday, 25 October) Swallows FC will play their first match in the top-flight since the 2014/15 season when they face Stellenbosch at the Danie Craven Stadium at 15:30.

At the same time, in Thohoyandou, history will be made when both Tshakhuma FC and TS Galaxy play their first-ever match in the Premiership.
