Sikkim CM announces new schemes for farmers supplying milk

Gangtok, Oct 14 ( UNI) Sikkim has introduced new scheme for farmers, in tune with Atma Nirbhar Bharat.
Chief Minister PS Tamang announcing the schemes expressed hope that these will inspire the farmers to excel in their work.
In the programme hosted by Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services joined by Sikkim Cooperative Milk Producers Union here, he said Farmers should work for increasing the Milk production. He said the construction of two milk production centres every year would be done.
Rs 10 lakh to the Sikkim Milk Union from Chief Minister’s Discretion Fund will be given annually. Rs two lakh to the ‘Milkman of the Year Award’ to the farmer, who produces maximum amount of milk in a year, payment of milk loss/ damages caused by road blockage, declaration of ‘Gwala Day’ as restricted holiday after a day will be finalised. He emphasized on One Family Two Cows policy.
He further said that the requests put forward by them would be considered after evaluation. The Milk producers would be given higher rate.
The Chief Minister also urged and directed everyone to wear mask all the time, wash hands frequently and to maintain social distancing, to minimise the COVID-19 pandemic.
