Equipped with state-of-the-art facilities for providing career counselling, skilling, training and job placement, the state government’s Regional Employment Exchange has now become a Model Career Centre.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant Thursday launched the Model Career Centre, which is an initiative of the labour and employment department, to be managed by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
Labour and Employment Minister Jennifer Monserrate and Commissioner of Labour and Employment Raju Gawas were present on the occasion apart from members of CII and industry bodies.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said the employment exchange will now function as a career centre and extend counselling facilities to the youth to enable them to select jobs best suited to their ability and aptitude.
Sawant appealed to the CII, which will manage the centre, to organise a special camp in every taluka from January next year so that youth from the remote areas can avail the benefit of this initiative.
The Labour and Employment Minister said the transformed centre has been equipped with state-of-the-art facilities including videoconferencing, career counselling stations and a 15-seater computer training laboratory. She appealed to the Goan youth to leverage these facilities, which have been conceptualised for the benefit of job aspirants to help them in skill enhancement and selecting better career opportunities.
