Several imp decisions taken under Khattar in last 6 yrs :Dalal

Chandigarh, Oct 15 (UNI) Haryana Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister J P Dalal said several important decisions have been taken in the last six years under the leadership of Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar so as to ensure that farming is risk free.

Among the important decisions include an additional compensation of Rs. 2,000 per acre during a natural calamity along with other recommendations of the Swaminathan Commission.

He said whenever the present government takes major decision in the interest of the farmers, the Opposition parties get unnerved making noise. Mr. Dalal said in the year 2004-05, compensation for loss of crops due to natural calamities was Rs 3,000 per acre which was increased to Rs 6,000 per acre on paper only by the previous government. It was then implemented by the present government in 2014. Moreover, Chief Minister Mr. Manohar Lal Khattar increased compensation to farmers to Rs 12,000 per acre, while as per the Swaminathan Commission Rs 10,000 per acre was fixed. He said that over the last six years, compensation of more than Rs 2,764 crore has been disbursed for loss of crops due to natural calamities, which is separate from the Rs 2,943 crore claim of Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana.
