Pune, Oct 15 (UNI) Rain with isolated heavy to very heavy falls over Konkan and Goa and isolated extremely heavy falls is likely over south Konkan, Goa and Ghat areas of Maharashtra during next 24 hours, forecast the India Meteorological Department here today.
It further said that rain with isolated heavy falls is likely over Odisha, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, northern parts of coastal Karnataka and northwestern parts of north Interior Karnataka during the same period.
Thunderstorm, accompanied with lightning, is very likely at isolated places over Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Konkan, Goa, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam during the same period.
Strong winds (with speed reaching up to 50-60 km per hour and gusting up to 70 kmph) is very likely over eastcentral and adjoining northeast Arabian Sea, along & off Maharashtra-south Gujarat coast, hence fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea during the same period.
The South-west Monsoon had been vigorous over Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, coastal & north Interior Karnataka and active over Odisha, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and south Interior Karnataka during past 24 hours.
It was weak over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Jharkhand, Bihar, east Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh during the same period.
Rain or thundershowers had pummelled most locations in Odisha, Konkan, Goa, Marathwada, coastal Andhra Pradesh, coastal Karnataka, Kerala and Andaman & Nicobar Islands during the same period.
They had battered many divisions in Vidarbha, Madhya Maharashtra, Telangana, north & south Interior Karnataka and at a few sites in Chhattisgarh, Rayalaseema and Lakshadweep during the same period.
Isolated zones in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, east & west Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat Region and Tamil Nadu also received the showers during the same period.
Thunderstorm had occurred at isolated quarters over Odisha, Madhya Maharashtra, Konkan, Goa, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam during the same period.
Dry weather prevailed over Arunachal Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Saurashtra and Kutch during the same period.
In the regions from where the South-west Monsoon had withdrawn, the day temperatures were appreciably above normal in some sectors of Uttarakhand and west Rajasthan during the same period.
They were above par in some corners of Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat while normal over the rest of the country during the same period.
The highest maximum temperature of 40.2 degree Celsius was recorded at Rajkot (Saurashtra).
Night temperatures were markedly above normal in some nooks of east Rajasthan.
They were appreciably above par in some belts of west Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Rajasthan as well in remaining pockets of east Rajasthan.
They were above norm in some spots of Himachal Pradesh and in remaining locales of west Rajasthan while normal over the rest of the country.
The lowest minimum temperature of 15 degree Celsius was recorded at Amritsar (Punjab).
