School reopening in Himachal Pradesh: State issues SOPs for schools

Principals/head teachers of educational institutes will ensure delivery of offline notes to students who are unable to join the learning process through Har Ghar Pathshala or under the Himachal Doordarshan Gyamshala Programme.

SHIMLA: The state education department has issued the standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the re-opening of schools and other educational institutions outside containment zones in Himachal Pradesh. The guidelines issued earlier regarding students of classes IX to XII coming to school with written consent of their parents would continue till further orders. Online teaching and learning process through Har Ghar Pathshala would continue as usual in the state.


Principals/head teachers of educational institutes will ensure delivery of offline notes to students who are unable to join the learning process through Har Ghar Pathshala or under the Himachal Doordarshan Gyamshala Programme. All students and staff will have to come to school wearing a face mask and keep wearing it all through, especially when in class or doing any group activity, such as eating in the mess, working in laboratory or reading in library. Schools will ensure and educate children not to exchange masks with others.

All educational institutes have been directed to follow the guidelines issued by the department of school education and literacy, Union ministry of education on health and safety protocols for the reopening of educational institutes. All teaching and non-teaching staff have been directed to attend the educational institutes according to the directions contained in the SOPs. All the educational institutions have been directed to prepare institutions based micro plans to implement the SOPs in particular institutions.


All schools and other educational institutions will have to hold e-parents teachers meeting (ePTM) with parents and students during October 15 to 17 to share the precautionary measures to avoid Covid-19 according to SOPs. During ePTM, students’ achievements during first term online exams and Har Ghar Pathshala initiatives like weekly quiz and remedial teaching material would also be shared with the parents.
