Srinagar, Oct 15 (UNI) Former Mayor Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) Junaid Azim Mattu demanded resignation of National Conference (NC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Parliament members to registered their protest against abrogation of special status of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir.
Reacting to meeting of Gupkar Declaration signatories at the residence of NC president Dr Farooq Abdullah, Mattu said they must resign just like former Member of Parliament (MP) Tariq Kara. Kara resigned from Srinagar constituency after PDP entered an alliance with BJP to form a coalition government in Jammu and Kashmir in 2016. He later joined Congress in 2017.
Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter Mattu said “ The most resounding expression of seriousness and dissent from the “Gupkar Club” would be the resignation of the NC and PDP Members of Parliament. Just like @tariqkarra Sb resigned. Once they resign, I’ll be the first person to take them seriously and do so vociferously!.
The signatories of Gupkar Declaration, including former Chief Ministers Dr Farooq Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti attended today meeting to chalk out future course of action following abrogation of special status of the J&K, a day after first declaration on August 4, 2019.
