Mah: Following unabated heavy rains, flood-like situation arises in Sangli

Sangli, Oct 15 (UNI) As many as 20 villages lost contact with their respective tehsils as heavy rains continued lashing most parts of this district on Thursday.

Owing to uninterrupted downpour since past five days, the Bisur village was inundated while a flood-like situation has arisen in several areas.

Consequently, 71 arterial roads leading to the state highways have been closed for traffic after they were submerged.

According to the Sangli weather office, the district has recorded a total average of 85.97 mm rain in the past 24 hours. During the same period, the highest 130.2 mm rain was registered in the Palus tehsil.

It was trailed by Khanapur-Vita tehsil (105 mm), Miraj (97), 96.7 mm each in Walva and Atpadi, Kavathe-Mahankal (90.6), Tasgaon (86.5) , Kadegaon (69.4), Shirala (59.7) and Jat (49.9).

Thane: Tribal man gets life term in murder case
