LUDHIANA: A major fire broke out in a plywood factory near Bija of Khanna in the early hours of Thursday. No casualties were reported in the incident.
Suresh Kumar, owner of Vidhata Industries private limited near Bija who belongs to Ludhiana, said that on Thursday morning he got a call from inside his factory that fire has started in the factory. He added that after getting information, he called Fire department and started from Ludhiana towards his factory.
The factory owner said that when he reached he saw massive fire in the factory. He added that even as there has been no loss of human life, but there has been big loss in fire which is in crores.
In the meanwhile after getting information about the incident, fire department team from Khanna led by Fire Officer Yashpal Rai reached the spot and started fire fighting operation. Fire officer said that at around 5am they got information about the fire in the factory after which their team comprising 15 fire fighters reached the spot. He added that three fire tenders including two from Khanna and one from Samrala were pressed into service and they used around 20 vehicles with water to control the fire.
Fire department officials said that they managed to control the fire completely by 9am. They added that even as the workers were working inside the factory but luckily there was no loss to human life. Fire officer said that they will ascertain the cause of the fire even as apparently the fire appears to have occurred due to short circuit.
