CRPF jawan dies by suicide

Srinagar, Oct 15 (UNI) A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan died by suicide by shooting self in the summer capital, Srinagar on Thursday.

Official sources said that panic gripped Mehjoor Nagar in Srinagar when a gunshot was heard this afternoon near a CRPF camp. “Security force personnel deployed in the area rushed to the spot from where the gunshot was heard and found a jawan in a pool of blood,” they said.

They said the jawan, identified as Constable P G Naidu, a resident of Andhra Pradesh, was immediately taken to a hospital, where he was declared brought dead. “It was not immediately clear why he took this extreme step,” they said, adding police has registered a case and initiated investigation to ascertain the circumstances which forced him to suicide.
