284 new Covid cases, 166 discharged, one death recorded in Manipur

Imphal, Oct 15 (UNI) A person succumbed to Covid while 284 new cases were detected.
In the past twenty-four hours, 265 persons (150M, 115F) from general population and 19 personnel from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) were confirmed as new COVID19 positive cases.
The positive cases were from JNIMS (160), Senapati (1), Thoubal (10), Noney (4), Shija Hospital (7), Kamjong (3), Maipakpi (1), Churachandpur (16), Imphal East (7), Bishnupur (6), Kakching (9), RD Wing (7), Senapati (3), Raj Medicity (4), Jivan Hospital (3), Babina Diagnostics (17), CMC (3), Jiribam (1), Kangpokpi (5),
Tengnoupal (2), Advance Hospital (3), Asian Hospital (2), Tamneglong (8) and RL (2).
The positive cases from general population were from Imphal West (22), Imphal East (91), Thoubal (15), Kamjong (3), Chandel (3), Tengnoupal (2), Jiribam (1), Tamenglong (9), Kakching (10), Churachandpur (52), Senapati (15), Kangpokpi (30), Bishnupur (8) and Noney (4). Two persons (1-IE, 1-BPR) were returnees while the rest
are locals without any significant travel history. They were being shifted to the Covid Care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and
contact tracing are in place.
In the last 24 hours, one person aged 58 yrs from Imphal West expired at Raj Medicity. The cumulative number of deaths was 104.
The total number of discharged persons was 166. They were from CAPF (41), Home Isolation (28), RIMS (10), JNIMS (3), Lamboikhong (29), UNAcco (20), PR Kakching (21), Tamenglong (1), Noney (1), Lanva (3), Sadhbhavna (3), Senapati (1), Bishnupur (4) and Kangpokpi (1).
The cumulative number of positive cases was 14,378 (General Population 11,791 and Central Security Personnel 2,587). The cumulative number of recovered cases was
11,081 (General Population 8,843 and Central Security Personnel 2,238). The number of active cases was 3,193 (General Population - 2,848 and Central Security
Personnel-345). The recovery rate was 77.06%.
Today, in a function organised at Medical Directorate, Lamphelpat, medicine packages (Zinc, Vitamin C & Vitamin D) were distributed to CMOs of Imphal West and Imphal East.

Tobacco-related cancers highest in North East: Report

Shillong, Oct 15 (UNI) Meghalaya's East Khasi Hills district had the highest relative proportion of cancers associated with the use of any form of tobacco with 70.4 percent in males and 46.5 percent in females, respectively, the National Cancer Registry Programme Report 2020 revealed.
