Guwahati: Man arrested for ‘raping’ daughter

GUWAHATI: A 13-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her father in the heart of Guwahati, police said. Police have arrested the accused.
The incident came to light after the victim narrated the incident to her mother. Later, the victim’s mother lodged a case (No 316/2020) with the Geeta Nagar police in the city.
The accused has been arrested under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and 5 and 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012.
In the meanwhile, another incident of alleged molestation was reported from the Bidyapur area in Bongaigaon district in lower Assam where a head master of a school had allegedly molested a student.
Locals of the area and a few organisations staged a protest in front of the Bidyapur police outpost on Monday night, seeking immediate arrest and exemplary punishment for the teacher.
