An incident of assault on the medical staff, including a doctor, at a Delhi government dispensary, has come to light. A Delhi man allegedly thrashed a doctor and the staff of a government dispensary over false coronavirus test report.
The incident is from Jagatpuri area of East Delhi. After testing positive, the man reportedly got himself tested again at a government hospital in Delhi.
He, however, tested negative for Covid-19 the second time.
Following this, he visited the dispensary where he accused the dispensary staff of intentionally making a false report and thrashed the doctor along with other medical staff.
Locals rushed to the dispensary and rescued the doctor and medical staff.
Later, police registered a case on the complaint of dispensary in-charge and medical officer Dr Reena Sehgal.
According to the complaint, the doctor protested when the man accused the staff of furnishing a false report. He told the doctor that he got a second test done at Karkardooma’s Dr Hedgewar Hospital and tested negative for the virus.
An argument ensued and the accused thrashed the doctor, the complainant alleged. The doctor, however, said the accused did not show his second report.
Police said they have initiated a probe into the incident and are scanning footage of CCTV cameras to ascertain the identity of the accused.
