India’s most celebrated cricketer Gautam Gambhir celebrates his birthday today (October 14). Gambhir reached the pinnacle of the ICC rankings for batsmen in 2009 and the same year, was named the ICC Test Player.
As captain, he led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to two IPL titles – in 2012 and 2014. Gambhir, who retired from all forms of cricket in December of 2018, having scored over 10000 runs for India across all three formats, received the prestigious Padma Shri award in 2019.
As the two-time World Cup champion turns 39 today, wishes pour in for the opener. Gambhir even made sure to reply to all the wishes.
For all the lovely moments and leadership you showed my friend. A very happy birthday to you. https://t.co/Tdo97Mh9So
