Apple iPhone 12 Series Starts @Rs 69,900; Sale To Begin In India From Oct 30

It's official! Apple iPhone 12 series is out now at a Hi-Speed virtual event held in the US (late night by India time) on October 13. 

The iPhone 12 lineup includes the iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max. Each of the variants has three memory configurations taking the total offering to 12 variants (64GB till 512GB) of the iPhone 12 series. 

The US-based tech giant also added nostalgic value to the event by introducing iPhone 5 and 5S design language to the new lineup. This time, the company flattened the side bezels but the design is still slightly boxy. Apart from this, Apple has also launched the HomePod Mini at the event.

Apple iPhone 12: Pricing & Availability

The iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini have been launched in 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB variants and 4 color options, starting at 69,900 and Rs 79,900 respectively. On the other hand, the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max has been launched in 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB variants at a starting price of 1, 19,900 and 1,29,900. Apple iPhone 12 series smartphones will start selling in India from October 30.

Apple iPhone 12 Series Specifications

iPhone 12 Series features Super Retina XDR OLED displays which comes with the refresh rate of 60Hz. For protection, the company has added a Ceramic Shield glass cover on top of the smartphones. Coming to the screen sizes, iPhone 12 Mini gets a 5.4-inch panel, the iPhone 12 and 12 Pro boast 6.1-inch panels, and the iPhone 12 Pro Max comes with a 6.7-inch panel. All the iPhones support dual-SIM (Nano + eSIM) and run on newly launched iOS 14. Also, all the devices are 5G compatible.

Under the hood, the new series is powered by the A14 Bionic SoC and comes with the 4th-generation Neural Engine. To recall, the same processor was earlier introduced with the latest iPad Air last month. Apple claims that the A14 Bionic chip is able to deliver a 40 percent boost in CPU performance and a 30 percent improvement in graphics over the existing A13 Bionic chip.

Talking about the camera, the iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 come loaded with 12 Mega Pixel dual rear camera setup that includes a wide-angle sensor and an ultra-wide-angle sensor. Coming to the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone Pro Max, both the smartphone gets the triple camera setup at the rear. Both the devices get the addition of 12 MP telephoto lens apart from wide-angle and ultra-wide-angle sensors.

In terms of differences, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max also get the LiDAR sensor which helps in improved autofocus in low light, better depth, and lastly, it also helps in AR measurements. The optical zoom capabilities also differ by 4x and 5x for iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max respectively. Also, iPhone 12 Pro Max comes with a 47 percent larger wide-angle sensor.

Coming to the selfie camera, all the iPhones get a similar 12 MP front camera with f/2.2 aperture. The company has also introduced 4K Dolby Vision HDR video recording and users will be able to edit the same video on their device itself. Apart from this, the company also claimed to improve the Night mode for better results.

Talking about the battery, the iPhone Pro Max is claimed to deliver up to 20 hours of video playback whereas iPhone Pro and iPhone 12 is claimed to deliver the 17 hours of video playback. Lastly, the mini variant is claimed to offer 15 hours of video playback. Apart from bundle charging, all the iPhones support MagSafe wireless charging as well as Qi Wireless charging at up to 15W and 7.5W respectively.

Homepad Mini

Homepad mini is Apple's smart speaker, which claimed to deliver connected features and rich sound quality. Through this speaker, users will be able to turn off the light, lock the gate, and use many such connected features. The speaker comes equipped with an Apple S5 chip and assisted by the Artificial Intelligence Assistance feature. Users can also send messages by connecting the HomePad Mini to Apple Siri. The company has claimed that it comes packed with privacy and safety features. Homepad Mini is available in two colors and priced at $99 i.e. Rs 7,268.
