Chitrakoot, Oct 14 (UNI) Three persons have seen arrested while two policemen suspended in connection with alleged gang-rape and suicide on a minor Dalit girl in Kotwali area here, police said on Wednesday.
The development comes against the backdrop of villagers from Kaumraha Ka Purva, to which the minor belonged, blocking a main road of the district in protest and demanding immediate arrest of the accused as well as capital punishment to them.
The victim's family members also refused to cremate the body until justice is delivered, but later performed the last rituals of getting an assurance from police and district officials.
As per the police sources, one among the arrested is son of former Pradhan of the village.
“The family of the victim gave a complaint after which case was registered under rape, SC/St Act and other sections against the accused. Investigation is underway in the case. The police outpost incharge Anil Sahu and the SHO Jai Shankar Singh have been suspended for laxity in this case," Inspector General of Police(IG) K Satyanarayan told mediapersons.
The Circle Officer Rajneesh Yadav said a case has been registered and a medical report of the victim is awaited.
As per the victim's family members, the girl went to a field in her village Kaumraha Ka Purva to relieve herself on October 8 when the three men abducted her.
“My daughter was taken away on a motorcycle by three men on October 8, who did heinous acts on her. Few hours later, we found our daughter lying in a nursery with hands and legs tied. We tried to know the name of the culprits but she did not respond to anything as she was traumatised by the incident," the mother of the victim said.
The woman said they informed the police about the incident but her daughter did not even respond to police queries owing to the trauma.
