Kerala reports 21 COVID deaths, 8,764 new +ve cases

Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 13 (UNI) Kerala reported 21 deaths due to COVID-19 on Tuesday, while 8,764 more people tested positive to the virus, 7,723 patients have recovered from the infection and total of 95,407 patients are currently under treatment, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said.
Addressing a press conference here this evening, the CM said "Of the positive cases reported on Tuesday, 8,039 persons were infected through contact and the contact source for 528 was unknown. 76 healthcare workers were among those infected."
He said 21 deaths were confirmed as caused by COVID taking the death toll to 1,046 in the state. The deceased were identified as Francis (68), Gopi (76), Ajaykumar (51) and Purushan (81) from Alappuzha district; Mary Babu (69), C S Pushparaji (38), T A Mohammad Ashraf (68) and N N Vishwambharan (65) from Ernakulam district; Krishnadas (67), Thayumma (70) and Muhammad (87) from Malappuram district; Abdurahman (68), Aryan (70), Beeran (47), Cheriyekan (73), Kunjabdullah (65), Syed Abu Thangal (68), Prabhakar (67) and Mammukoya (82) from Kozhikode district, Amarnath (69) from Kannur district and Abdullah (66) from Kasaragod district, he added.
