9,000 people in rural Thane show symptoms of Covid-19

THANE: Almost 9,000 people from rural pockets of the district showed symptoms of Covid-19 or have been tested positive during the first phase of ‘my family, my responsibility’ survey.
The campaign, which was started in the rural belt of Thane district, health of over 17 lakh citizens’ was checked in the first phase, which started on September 15 and ended on October 10.
The 632 teams which had 1896 health workers, teachers and other volunteers checked the health of citizens from over 4 lakh households.
The records submitted by the teams showed that 8,910 people were either Covid-19 positive or had the symptoms of the infection. Out of the 8,910 over 55 per cent had severe acute respiratory infections (SARI) or influenza like illness (ILI), as 4952 were detected with these ailments. Also, 337 were detected positive with the Covid-19 infection and over 3,000 had other health problems.
All these patients were referred to the health centres for further diagnosis and treatment.
The survey the health officials were able to make a note of 12,884 comorbid patients that are having medical conditions like diabetes, blood pressure etc. The officials stated that they will be keeping a tab on the health of these individuals on a regular basis especially during the pandemic.
