Businessman thrashed by 15 men, dies

Gurgaon: A group of youths allegedly thrashed a businessman to death in Bhangrola on Monday. The police said the incident happened after one of the youths claimed the businessman’s car hit his scooter and started an argument.
The businessman has been identified as Netrapal Singh, an electrical engineer who lived in Ghaziabad’s Vasundhara and ran a business in Delhi. He was in his late 30s. His family said Netrapal had come to Gurgaon with two relatives, Anjali Kumari and Alok Kumar, for some personal work, on Monday. They were returning to Ghaziabad in the evening when a youth on a scooter overtook their car in Bhangrola along the Delhi-Jaipur expressway.
The youth forced the car to stop and accused Netrapal, who was driving the car, of hitting his scooter. He allegedly snatched the keys, dragged Netrapal out of the car and started thrashing him. When Anjali and Alok intervened, he called up around 15 men. The group soon arrived in a few minutes and punched, kicked and beat Netrapal with iron rods.
Anajali and Alok raised the alarm and passersby gathered to help, after which the group fled. Netrapal, who was severely thrashed and suffered critical injuries, was rushed to a hospital in Manesar, which referred him to a private hospital in Gurgaon. He soon succumbed to his injuries. Police were informed and his family members came to Gurgaon to file a complaint.
“They were returning when a youth intercepted their car. He called his friends and they beat him to death,” Netrapal’s nephew, Chetan Kumar, told police.
On the basis of his complaint, an FIR was registered at Kherki Daula police station under sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 325 (causing grievous hurt), 341 (wrongful restraint), 302 (murder), 34 (common intention) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of IPC against the youths, who haven’t been identified yet, on Tuesday. “We are scanning CCTV footage of the area to identify the accused,” said police spokesperson Subhash Boken.
