BJP fields Satya Prakash Mani as Deoria candidate for UP Assembly bypolls

Lucknow, Oct 14(UNI) BJP has announced a dedicated party leader Satya Prakash Mani as the party candidate from the prestigious Deoria assembly seat on Wednesday where bypolls is slated on November 3 along with 6 other seats.



On Tuesday, the party had announced six candidates for the bye-elections slated on November 3 giving tickets to either family members or trusted party cadre.



On Wednesday, it named Satya Prakash Mani, thus ending all speculation of fielding any high profile leader from the seat.



The BJP has fielded Sangeeta Chauhan, wife of cricketer turned politician late Chetan Chauhan from Naugawan Sadat seat while Usha Sirohi, the wife of senior BJP leader late Virendra Singh Sirohi, gets party’s nod from Bulandshahr.



Chetan Chauhan, who was cabinet rank minister in the Yogi Government had died of covid while Sirohi who was party’s Chief whip in Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly died of liver ailment in a private hospital in New Delhi in March.



Wives of both the senior leaders have got tickets with an aim to cash in on the emotion of the voters.



Another minister Kamal Rani had died of Covid. She was MLA from Ghatampur where the party gave ticket to BJP’s SC leader Unit Upendra Paswan.

In other seats the party has fielded Prempal Dhangar from Tundla (SC), former district president of Unnao Shrikant Katiyar from Bangarmau in Unnao, and Manoj Singh from Malhani.



Manoj Singh was a student leader and had a good base at the ground level.



The votes for these by-elections will be polled on November 3 and the result will be declared on November 10.
