SWAMPSCOTT — A Massachusetts man is facing charges after he broke into the Swampscott home of Gov. Charlie Baker, according to authorities.

The Essex District Attorney's Office confirmed that Lane Forman, 59, was arraigned in Lynn District Court last Wednesday on a misdemeanor breaking-and-entering charge.

5 Investigates has learned that Forman, a 59-year-old from Danvers, was confronted by Massachusetts State Police troopers from the Executive Protection Unit after he made it inside the house.

MSP cruisers are usually stationed outside the governor's home, but Forman was somehow able to walk right inside.

Sources tell 5 Investigates that Forman had paperwork with him and that he told the troopers he was just leaving that paperwork for Baker.

Forman was released on $5,000 bail, but he has been ordered by the court to stay away from Baker, his family and their Monument Avenue home. He has been fitted with a GPS monitoring device.

According to the district attorney's office, Forman must also undergo a competency evaluation.

Forman next scheduled court appearance is Nov. 4 for a pretrial hearing.

Neither Baker's office nor the Massachusetts State Police are commenting on the incident.
