Total covid deaths in Odisha rose to 1072

Bhubaneswar, Oct 14 (UNI) The number of deaths of Covid positive patients in Odisha today surged to 1,072 with the death of 15 more patients during the last 24 hours.

Health and Family Welfare Department sources here said the deaths were reported from 13 districts.

While Cuttack reported three deaths, Balasore, Jajpur, Kalahandi, Kendrapara, Boudh, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Khordha, Mayurbhanj, Puri, Rayagarh and Sundergarh reported one death each.

Three of the total fresh 15 deaths were female.

Health and Family Welfare Department sources said during the period the total number of Covid positive cases in the state rose to 2,59,541 with the detection of 2,604 new positive cases during the past 24 hours.

Out of the fresh 2604 Covid positive cases reported during the past 24 hours while 1,511 cases were from quarantine, 1,093 were local contacts.

The state Health and Family Welfare Department sources said, seven districts reported the highest daily surge of 100 or more daily Covid positive cases.

The Khordha District topped the list with the highest number of 385 Positive cases followed by Anugul 216, Cuttack 209, Sundergarh 186, Balasore 164, Mayurbhanj 122 and Jajpur 113.With the recovery of 2,796 new patients, the number of total recoveries in the state now stands at 2,32,988 and the state has now 25,428 active cases.
