Stock market update: SmallCap stocks down; Goa Carbon nosedives 10%

NEW DELHI: SmallCap stocks were trading lower at 02:25PM (IST) on Wednesday.

Shares of Goa Carbon (down 9.71 per cent), Prabhat Dairy (down 8.09 per cent), Sanghi Industries (down 6.77 per cent), Coforge (down 5.71 per cent) and Himatsingka Seide (down 5.02 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

While Tata Steel Long Products (up 20.0 per cent), Subex (up 9.95 per cent), BF Utilities (up 9.93 per cent), Gayatri Projects (up 9.92 per cent) and Soril Infra Resources (up 9.87 per cent) were among the top gainers.

The S&P BSE SmallCap index was trading 0.18 per cent down at 14860.96 around 02:25PM.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 22.05 points at 11912.45, while the BSE Sensex was down 30.39 points at 40595.12.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 23 were trading in the green, while 26 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Alok Industries, NTPC and Vedanta were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of SBI Cards, MphasiS, Persistent Sys, Strides Shasun and Tata Elxsi hit their fresh 52 week high in today's trade, while Uniply Industries Ltd., A & M Febcon Ltd., Advitiya Trade India Ltd., Colorchips New Media Ltd., Pazel International Ltd., KJMC Financial Services Ltd., Ishaan Infrastructures & Shelters Ltd., Real Touch Finance Ltd., Consolidated Construction Consortium Ltd. and N2N Technologies Ltd. hit fresh 52 week low in trade.
