Calcutta High Court quashes police chargesheet against Babul Supriya

Kolkata, Oct 14 (UNI) A single-judge bench of Calcutta High Court today quashed a police charge sheet alleging BJP leader and Union minister Babul Supriya had made a controversial comment against TMC MP Mahua Moitra during a TV debate nearly three years ago.

Moitra had sued the BJP leader accusing him of outraging her modesty during a TV debate in 2017.

Police registered a case against Babul Supriya, a charge sheet was issued against him and a local court directed to take action against the Union minister.

Babul Supriya moved the high court challenging the charge sheet and the local court order.

Justice Vivek Chowdhury quashed the charge sheet after a hearing today.
