Jharkhand: Family of gangrape and murder victim forced to bury body; three rapists arrested by police

Sahebganj, Oct 13 (UNI) The family of another minor victim of gruesome sexual assault and murder was yet again forced by the villagers to keep mum and asked not to file an FIR.
According to police, the victim was raped and murdered by her ex-boyfriend and four others on October 9 under Ranga Police Station area of Sahebganj district.
The family members of the victim said a village meeting ordered them to bury their daughter's body and when they approached the local police station, the cops refused to take any action.
This incident has surfaced soon after the panchayat (an informal meeting of villagers with no legal backing) of another village under Chainpur Police Station area of Gumla district told the parents of a minor gangrape victim to suppress the matter and the rapists warned them with dire consequences if they approached the police. The incident had come to light only after the enraged brother of the victim decided to take on the rapists himself, and the bloody scuffle forced the villagers to call in the police.
According to Gumla police, the ex-boyfriend had spotted her with another guy in a local fair and in a fit of anger thrashed her companion. Later, he and his friends took her to an isolated location and raped her one-by-one and threw her body on the terrace of her newly constructed house.
Somehow, Sahebganj SP Anuranjan Kispotta got to know about the entire incident and directed Barharwa SDPO Pramod Mishra to conduct a probe.
Out of the five culprits, who had executed the crime, four have been arrested, police said.
The victim's body was exhumed on Tuesday before a magistrate and sent for post-mortem.
