GUWAHATI: The Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) on Monday declared the results of the written combined competitive examination (main) for state public services held in 2018 following a high court order.
The Gauhati high court on Friday had allowed APSC to declare the results of the written combined competitive examination (main) for state public services held in 2018.
The exam was conducted by the commission last year between August 2 and August 29. Earlier, some candidates had challenged the results of the preliminary examination and moved the high court.
The court directed APSC to proceed with the interview round, but said before declaring the final results, the commission has to take permission of the court. “Altogether, over 500 candidates are declared to have qualified for the interview (viva-voce). The interview (viva-voce) will be conducted from October 28. Candidates are requested to go through the APSC website www.apsc.nic.in for details. The results have been declared in compliance with the Gauhati High Court’s order passed in writ petition (civil) on Friday,” a notification issued by APSC reads.
The petitioners are the candidates who contended that they had answered many of the questions correctly but failed to qualify at the preliminary examination due to the wrong answer keys given by the APSC. The petitioner prayed before the court for a declaration that the evaluation undertaken and done by APSC is bad in law and liable to be re-evaluated, re-checked and to award correct marks to them with regard to the questions under scrutiny.
