PATIALA: In a suspected case of honour killing, the Patiala police have booked a man for allegedly killing his 19-year-old cousin sister by shooting her dead with a pistol.
The post-mortem of the deceased woman is being carried out and the accused is yet to be nabbed. However, the police claimed to have collected some evidences from the crime spot.
The police said that the incident took place on Monday afternoon in village Bhambua of Sanaur in Patiala. The police claimed that the accused, identified as PS Singh, was part of the joint family and was having suspicions about the character of his cousin living in the same house.
A case has been registered under Section 302 (murder) of Indian Penal Code and Sections 25, 27/54/59 of the Arms Act at Sanaur police station on the complaint of the mother of the deceased girl.
In her complaint to the police, the mother of the deceased said that accused is her nephew and was living in the same house. She claimed that the accused was having suspicion about her daughter having any illicit relationship with someone and earlier also had landed in a dispute with her following same suspicions.
Station house office senior inspector Paramjit Singh, “The mother of the deceased woman has claimed that the accused landed in heated arguments with her daughter raising suspicions over her character. She claimed that the accused brought a pistol and fired three rounds, of which two bullets had hit her daughter and one of the bullets hit the wall in the house. The forensic team and the cops collected evidence from the spot while the post-mortem of the deceased woman is being carried out. The accused is yet to be arrested and his details could be shared only after his arrest. The hunt to nab him are on as the accused managed to escape after killing his cousin sister.”
