TN CM's mother passes away, Guv, leaders offer condolences

Salem, Oct 13 (UNI) Ms Thavusayammal, mother of Tamil Nadu
Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, died at a private hospital
here in the wee hours of Tuesday following a heart attack.
She was 93.
Ms Thavusayammal was admitted to the hospital for treatment
of age-related ailments when she suffered a heart attack and
breathed her last at 0130 hrs.
Her body was taken to her native Siluvampalayam village for
last rites.
Soon after hearing the news, Mr Palaniswami left Chennai for
Siluvampalayam village in this district, where he paid tearful
tributes.
Mr Palaniswami's cabinet colleagues, MLAs, AIADMK functionaries
and a large number of local people paid their last respects to the
departed soul.
Her body was later cremated in the village.
The Chief Minister's review meeting in Thoothukudi today and
in other districts tomorrow has been cancelled in view of his
mother's death.
Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit, Deputy Chief Minister
O Panneerselvam and leaders of various political parties,
including Leader of the Opposition and DMK President M K Stalin,
PMK Founder Dr S Ramadoss, MDMK General Secretary Vaiko,
and actor Rajinikanth condoled the death of Ms Thavusayammal.
Telangana Governor Ms Tamilisai Soundararajan also offered her
condolences to Mr Palaniswami on his mother's demise.
An official release said Ms Tamilisai Soundararajan, Mr Stalin,
Mr Vaiko, Dr Ramadoss and Rajinikanth also spoke to the Chief
Minister over phone and offered their condolences.
In his message, the Governor said he was saddened to know
about the demise of Mr Palaniswami's mother Ms Thavusayammal.
''The passing away of mother who had nurtured right from birth with
her unconditional love and sacrifices is an irreparable loss'', he said,
according to a Raj Bhavan communique.
''In this hour of grief, I extend my sincere condolences to Mr Palaniswami
and to the bereaved family members'', he added.
''I pray to Almighty God to rest her soul forever in eternal peace and give
strength to Thiru. Edapaddi K.Palaniswami and his family to overcome
this unfathomable loss'', he said.
Mr Panneerselvam, in a tweet, expressed shock and grief over her death
and offered his heartfelt condolences to the Chief Minister and his family
members.
Mr Panneerselvam, who is also the Coordinator of the ruling AIADMK, also
offered his condolences on behalf of the party.
In a tweet, Mr Stalin said he was saddened to hear about the death of
Mr Palaniswami's mother and offered his condolences on behalf of the DMK.
He also offered his heartfelt condolences to Mr Palaniswami and his family
members.
DMK General Secretary Duraimurugan and leaders of various parties, also
offered their condolences to the Chief Minister.
