Congress to organize virtual massive 'Save the Farmers' rally on Oct 15 against farm laws

Mumbai, Oct 13 (UNI) Taking their agitation forward against the three farmers' laws enacted by the central government, the Congress has planned a virtual rally, called 'Save the Farmers', across Maharashtra on October 15.
The rally will be held simultaneously in 10,000 villages and arrangements have been made to see and participate through social media and an attempt is being made to reach out to 50 lakh farmers across the state, said Balasaheb Thorat, president of Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee and Revenue Minister, here on Tuesday.
Talking to media at the party's head office, he further said that in the state, the NCP has also opposed the 'black laws', imposed by the central government, and a meeting in this regard was held by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray too.
The BJP-led government has imposed these laws on the farmers merely on the basis of the strength of majority and by violating all the rules of democracy and parliament, he thundered.
These black laws brought for the benefit of certain industrialists will destroy the farmers of the country, he charged and said this is a ploy to enslave the farmers to the industrialists.
The Congress party has been agitating against these black laws of the central government and a virtual 'Save the farmers' rally has been organized on October 15 at 1600 hours, he informed and said the main event of the rally will be held at five places in the state.
All these events are interconnected and Congress leaders from five different places will address the farmers in the state -- from Sangamner, the main event will be attended by Maharashtra Congress in-charge H K Patil, Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee president and State Revenue Minister Balasaheb Thorat, Public Works Minister Ashok Chavan, Tribal Development Minister K. C. Padvi, secretary of the All India Congress Committee and in-charge of Gujarat Rajiv Satav and All India Congress Committee secretary and co-incharge of Maharashtra B M Sandeep and other Congress party office-bearers will be present as well.
The second event will be held in Aurangabad and will be attended by Medical Education Minister Amit Deshmukh, Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee Working chairman and former minister Basavaraj Patil.
The Amravati rally will be led by Women and Child Development Minister Yashomati Thakur.
In Nagpur, the rally will be held in the presence of Energy Minister Nitin Raut, Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Minister Sunil Kedar, Relief and Rehabilitation and Bahujan Welfare Minister Vijay Vadettiwar, while the rally in the Konkan region will be held in the presence of Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee Working chairman Muzaffar Hussain, the MPCC chief informed.
The event will be telecast live in more than 10,000 villages in the state through LED screens, LCD projector screens, TVs, and on all social media platforms of MPCC that is INC Maharashtra's YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, he said.
The Congress had earlier on September 26 launched an online campaign against the central government's black laws - #SpeakUpForFarmers, in which the party leaders demanded to repeal these black laws.
Then, a state-wide 'Kisan Mazdoor Bachao' divas was observed on Oct 2 on the occasion of the birth anniversaries of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi and former prime minister late Lal Bahadur Shastri, in which a large number of farmers from the state had joined the agitation.
The Congress party will continue to protest till the central government repeals these black laws, Mr Thorat added.
