Ranchi: Worst Cov day in Oct for state with 11 deaths; active cases below 8k

RANCHI: With 11 deaths, Jharkhand recorded the month’s biggest single-day Covid toll on Monday even as the new infection tally fell to a two-month low, hovering around the 500-mark for the first time since Independence Day.
Active cases also fell below the 8,000-mark for the first since August 14. With 510 new cases and 890 recoveries, the cumulative caseload in the state stood at 93,035, of which 7,776 are active, 84,4461 (90.78%) have recovered and 798 (0.86%) have died. The positivity rate fell further with 1.7% of 28,522 samples tested through the day returning positive.
Among the casualties, East Singhbhum and Ranchi reported three deaths while Bokaro, Chatra, Giridih, Palamau and Ramgarh reported one each. Ranchi and East Singhbhum continued to report the highest number of fresh cases at 199 and 80. Both districts continued to report high recoveries with 308 and 106 patients discharged.
