SSC CHSL exam begins for remaining candidates

LUDHIANA: The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) Combined Higher Secondary Level Examination (CHSL), which was had to deferred due to due to Covid-19 outbreak, resumed on Monday.

The online exam was conducted earlier this year from March 17 to 19. Due to Covid-19 lockdown, the exam was postponed indefinitely and is now being conducted from October 12 to 26 for the remaining candidates.

The SSC conducts the recruitment every year for various posts of Group C and D level. The overall level of the difficulty of shift-1 was easy to moderate. Students have appeared for the SSC CHSL exam on Monday at Satnam Infosol situated at Threeke Road in Threeke village. As many as 2,160 candidates registered for the exam but only 532 appeared. In the first shift, 176 candidates appeared, 186 in the second shift and for the third shift, 176 students came.


The exams will take also place on October 16, 19, 21 and 26 in three shifts. The exam duration is one hour while for PwD candidates it is 80 minutes. In total, 100 questions will be asked having 200 as maximum marks. There is no sectional cut off for the tier-1 exam.

Kanwaljeet, supervisor for the exam, who came from Chandigarh, said, “The new centre at Threeke Road has a lot of deficiencies and lacks proper arrangements. There are so many rooms and students got confused. In many rooms, there was only one student present, which created a lot of problems. There are no other facilities like lift and I will send my remarks in compiling reports to the higher officials. The students too have faced a lot of issues. However, social distancing is being maintained as there is less number of candidates appearing for the exam.”


Amit Basha, owner of Satnam Infosol, said, “ We have made all arrangements according the demand and the exam was conducted smoothly, but I don’t know much about other details.”
