Farmers to get 50 pc fare exemption on rail transportation of eligible crops

New Delhi, Oct 13 (UNI) Farmers of notified fruits and vegetables will get 50 per cent fare exemption on rail transportation and the amount will be borne by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries under its 'Operation Green' as part of 'Atmanirbhar Abhiyan.'

The Railways has written to all the concerned zonal managers to give the farmers 50 per cent fare exemption with immediate effect on the notified frutis and vegetables.

For this arrangement, the Ministry will provide a sum of Rs 10,000 crore intially.

The Railway Board's Director of Freight, Marketing said that it will be the responsibility of the Chief Parcel Inspector at all the Railway stations that the exemption in the fare be only given for notified fruits and vegetables.
