Global blitz chess event to raise funds for schools

Surat: City will host global virtual blitz chess tournament ‘Make Your Move’ starting from October 26 to 31. The event is being jointly organised by L P Savani School, Round Table India (RTI) and Ladies Circle in partnership with Surat District Chess Association to raise funds.
The tournament to have three categories of under 14, under 19 and above 19. Any participant from across the world can register online before October 21.
“The event is being organized by RTI and LP Savani School is providing support. RTI will be using the funds generated through the event in developing schools,” said Dharmendra Savani, vice-chairman of LP Savani School.
The organizers are expecting around 10,000 entries. The winners of each category will get a chance to play a chess game with grandmaster Viswanathan Anand. Anand is also scheduled to address participants during the event.
