Punjab: Covid recovery rate touches 90.33%; death rate continues to remain high

CHANDIGARH: Continuing with the trend of high recovery and death rate, 1,006 people recovered while 692 fresh Covid-19 cases surfaced, and 34 more people lost their lives to the virus in the last 24 hours in Punjab.
With 112,417 people getting well so far, the state's recovery rate further improved to 90.33% while the active rate further dropped to 6.55% against the national average of 11.69%. Till date, the virus has claimed the lives of 3,894 Punjab's death rate stands at 3.10%, highest in the country.
Of 34 deaths reported in the last 24 hours, six people died in Amritsar, four in Ludhiana, three each in Gurdaspur and Sangrur, two each in Hoshiarpur, Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Mohali, Muktsar, Patiala and Ropar. One death each was reported in Barnala, Fazilka, Moga and Nawanshahr.
A total of 103 people were tested positive in Ludhiana, 95 in Jalandhar and 57 each in Mohali and Amritsar. As many as 55 people were found to be infected in Bathinda, 44 in Patiala, 41 in Hoshiarpur, 40 in Gurdaspur, 29 in Muktsar, 28 in Ropar, 20 in Kapurthala, 18 each in Fazilka and Tarn Taran, 15 each in Ferozepur and Faridkot, 14 in Nawanshahr, 12 each in Sangrur and Fatehgarh Sahib, seven in Pathankot, five in Mansa, four in Moga and three in Barnala.
A total of 16 duplicate entries were removed from the tally.
