
Apple took the wraps off its latest iPhone 12 series on Tuesday, packing with 5G capability. The tech giant squarely focused on the iPhone 12 lineup, which consists of four iPhones including a 5.4-inch iPhone 12 Mini. It also announced a new smart speaker called HomePod Mini, and brought back its MagSafe charging brand but for the new iPhones.

Apple iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Mini
During an hour long event, Apple announced the new iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Mini, featuring 6.1-inch and 5.4-inches displays. These are two of the four models announced as part of the iPhone 12 lineup.
Both new iPhones now support 5G and feature a new design with flat edges. Apple said the iPhone 12 is 11 per cent thinner and the company has used OLED displays across all iPhone models.
Apple also made a big deal about 5G. The smartphone uses a new antenna system to improve 5G performance. Apple said it optimized iOS to take advantage of 5G speeds while maintaining power efficiency. The iPhone 12 also includes a Smart Data mode that switches between 4G and 5G data speeds intelligently.
The iPhone 12 also uses a finish on the front screen glass called ‘Ceramic Shield’ which improves the durability of the device. Apple said it is tougher than any smartphone glass to date, with 4x better drop performance.
The iPhone 12 lineup is powered by Apple’s A14 Bionic chipset. This is the world’s first processor to use a 5nm process. Apple says the new six-core CPU is up to 50 per cent faster than any other smartphone.
Both iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Mini use a new 12MP wide camera with a wider aperture. The phones also use Apple is a seven-element lens for the first time, with up to 27 per cent in better low light
The iPhone 12 will come in black, white, blue, red, and green. Pricing starts at Rs 79,990, and the phone will be available in India starting October 30. As far as the storage is concerned, consumers can choose between 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB. Meanwhile, the iPhone 12 Mini starts at Rs 69,990.
The iPhone 12 also features MagSafe, a new wireless charging tech. MagSafe charging tech. With MagSafe, the iPhone 12 magnetically snaps onto the charger and the company has created a lot of accessories to go with the new iPhone.
Apple iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max
Apple is also releasing new premium Pro models called iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max. The iPhone 12 Pro features a 6.1-inch display, while the iPhone 12 Pro Max sports a 6.7-inch display that Apple says is the largest iPhone screen it has released till date. The frame of the iPhone 12 Pro range is made out of durable stainless steel material. The Pro models will be available in pacific blue, graphite, gold, and silver
The Pro models include a telephoto lens in addition to wide and ultra-wide lenses and bigger camera sensors. They also have a LIDAR scanner that can create 3D scans of the room with high precision also enables fast autofocus.
The iPhone 12 Pro range will be able to take photos using a new Apple format that enables more detailed post-production tweaks. It can also record videos using HDR and also supports recording Dolby Vision videos.
The iPhone 12 Pro starts at Rs 119,990 and goes on sale October 30. The iPhone 12 Pro Max starts at Rs 129,990. Apple is yet to announce the release date of the iPhone 12 Pro Max in India. For storage, you can pick between 128GB, 256GB and 512GB
HomePod Mini
Apple has announced the HomePod mini, the company’s latest Siri-powered smart speaker. The miniature version of HomePod has a new circular bowl-shaped design, wrapped in mesh fabric. On top is a backlit touch surface for controls.
The speaker delivers a 360-degree array. The HomePod mini is powered by the Apple S5 chip. HomePod Mini also supports AirPlay 2 multi-room capabilities, so you can pair multiple speakers. Apple said the HomePod mini analyzes the music and optimizes loudness, dynamic range, and more. HomePod mini automatically integrates with the Home app. Plus, it also works with CarPlay.
HomePod Mini costs Rs 9,900, and it will start shipping starting November 16.
